Artem Pogribnyy (born October 13, 1969, Dnipro, Ukraine) is a distinguished Ukrainian painter and restorer, celebrated for his unique blend of urban architectural romanticism and modernist influences. A member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 2012, Pogribnyy graduated from the Kharkiv Art and Industry Institute in 1994, studying under notable instructors V. Lozovyi and V. Lysov. Since 1995, he has worked as a restorer of easel painting at the Kharkiv branch of the National Research and Restoration Center of Ukraine, bringing his expertise in visual and optical illusions, as well as painterly anamorphoses, to both his restoration and creative practices.
Pogribnyy’s artistic oeuvre is deeply rooted in the stylistics of modernism, drawing inspiration from the conceptual fantasies of René Magritte and emphasizing meticulous draftsmanship. His urban landscapes and fantastical compositions are characterized by a profound sense of architectural form, spatial exploration, and soft chiaroscuro and coloristic resolutions. His works often feature fragmented yet centered architectural elements, intricate details, and optical “deceptions,” creating a dreamlike interplay between reality and illusion.
